Today, Fototakas.lt wedding video operator shares some useful tips.
One of the things you will quickly learn as you begin this wedding planning journey is the relationships and collaborations with the people who organize them! It is not as simple as it seems. From family and friends straight to the organizers! Oh yes.
When it comes time to capture your wedding day and collect all the visual memories, if you are able to plan everything in advance and work with your organizers, you will be able to relax on the day, focus on what is important and get the best possible results.
The ultimate goal of all wedding planners is to create a wonderful day for the couple getting married, although this is not always the case, so when choosing planners, make sure they are suitable to work together harmoniously. This is especially true for wedding videographers and photographers, because in order to get the best possible result from both, there must be mutual respect for each other's work and a willingness to cooperate.

- We always recommend that couples do their homework and think beyond who will be your witnesses. You should always have a comparison so that you can get the best idea of style with similar costs. Budget is an important factor, and what you get for your money is just as important as knowing what is included in each service offered.
- Be diligent, check their website and see if they have a completed wedding film they can show or send you. Watching the highlights of a movie is very different from watching a fully edited movie.
- Never be afraid to ask questions about their experience or previous weddings. Mutual trust between the operator and you is an important factor that helps to discuss and align expectations.
- When couples first contact us, we always ask if they would like to meet with us. First impressions are very important, bearing in mind that those people will be with you on your day, so you must trust those who will capture your wedding impressions on film.
- As soon as you decide which people are right for you, of course, sign the contract.
Organization and communication
- Communicate regularly.
- If your wedding videographer sends you an e-mail asking you to specify your chosen music or time schedules in advance - then this is an important factor for our "final product".
- Planning a wedding can be very complicated. For example, some brides choose a location for their wedding preparations quite far from the ceremony location, so time schedules are very important in the planning process, so your wedding videographer must be informed and guaranteed that no important moments will be missed. We are people who want to do everything as well as possible. The more guarantees and information we have, the better we will do everything, thus remaining excellent and proper professionals in our field.
Information is the foundation
- As you have already understood from the above information, the best way to agree with your cinematographer and create the best possible film is to provide as much information as possible in advance.
- A great movie needs a plot, and the sooner you decide what details you want to capture, the better. Sometimes adding the smallest details can greatly improve the quality of a film.
- For example, we were once asked to film a bride looking for her perfect wedding dress and attend all of her alterations and measurements as it was a very important part of the wedding that she wanted to capture. By involving us so closely, she showed that she trusted us and she got the best we could give her and she was so excited! ("Fototakas.lt": I was impressed with how it was done! So special.)
Preparation
- Relax, swim downstream and let our cameramen capture your best moments.
- Often couples tell us that it was so nice to have someone there to calm them down the whole time and take their mind off the seriousness of the day with small talk. We can often tell when someone is nervous and that distraction techniques work very well and are relaxing!
- A good idea before the wedding is to meet and talk with your cameraman or maybe even shoot your engagement video, which is informal but will help you feel more at ease in front of the camera.
- All these things help to "break the ice". Sometimes companies send different people to film your day from the day you first met, so make sure you know who will be filming your wedding so there are no surprises that throw you off balance on your wedding day.
feed
- Make sure your wedding videographer is well-fed and well-hydrated! ("Fototakas.lt": actually this applies to the planners who will be with you all day. They also need to eat!) Usually our working days are very long, we usually spend 13/14 hours on our feet, walking around, and the worst thing is when we have to ask to be fed or just get a simple glass of water!
- We do not expect the wedding couple to take care of us, but we will ensure that your planner or venue coordinator receives this information. These are very simple things, but they make a huge difference in our productivity and enthusiasm.
- Many times we were booked for 10 hours and worked 12 or 13 hours without extra pay just because we were so excited about the wedding and our bride and groom were happy to work with us.
Informing wedding guests
- This is the tricky part as it would be very difficult to inform each guest individually that you have hired a cameraman, however, many guests take it for granted that you will have a photographer and a wedding videographer at your wedding, so don't worry too much about not letting them know. them in advance.
- One of the things we assure the newlyweds, by prior agreement, is that we never film while the guests are eating, and we advise them to coordinate so that all toasts, wishes and other entertainment are a continuation of the wedding meal. No one wants a camera on them while they are enjoying their long awaited meal. ("Fototakas.lt": this is also a great opportunity to feed your organizers and let them get stronger!)
Last tips
The most important thing is to enjoy and try to relax. This will be shown in the film, so we always encourage laughter, wit and smiles, often not shying away from jokes and jokes ourselves. Never take this day too seriously, enjoy the moment with family and friends, know that such an experience will only happen once in your life.
